American Diabetic Diet Gives Diabetics A Longer Life

It is important to follow the rules of the American Diabetic Diet because, by doing so; you can live a long healthy life. Whether you have Type 1 Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes it does not matter. This diet is great to follow because it is a very safe and effective way to control your weight and blood sugar levels. A good diet is the essential key to keeping your diabetes disease under control and it is the key to putting you in control of your diabetes. Instead of your diabetes being in control of you, think of it this way; who does not like to be in control of their health? Bluntly put, no one ever wishes to be at a point where their diabetes controls them.

The fist step you can take to being in control is to make sure you do not overeat. Eat small portion sizes, if needed eat five meals a day with smaller portions to get used to eating in seemingly small quantities. Chew your food! Do not just hog down your meal in ten minutes, take your time and enjoy it. After you have finished eating wait for twenty minutes if you still feel hungry then go ahead and grab a healthy snack. Exercising more is also an important part of a healthy diet for a diabetic. Eating the same meals everyday can get boring. Mix it up and try different and new foods. It will make things much more interesting for you and your taste buds will thank you.

The American diabetic diet may seem tricky to follow at first because you may be not used to the smaller portions and the different foods on the list but as time goes and you experiment some you may find yourself actually enjoying your meals and food more than you had in the past before the diabetic diet.
